Comings and Goings FREE
A striking new exhibition by photographer Casey Orr. Displayed as large canvasses on the exterior wall of HMP Leeds and simultaneously exhibited inside the prison, these photographs explore the nature of migration, community and home.

Secret Famous Lives
Costume maker Selina Nightingale has been unearthing a star dust trail through the streets of west Leeds. It seems that creativity did not die in the area when Alan Bennett and Barbara Taylor Bradford moved out but is thriving just under the surface.
Look out for the first edition of this zine with stories of artists, technicians and makers and the extraordinary things they have been up to…

Wortley High School Festival FREE

The Big Festival Day FREE
For one day only Hainsworth Park in Farsley is being transformed into a sun-soaked festival of fun and activities - all for free. I Love West Leeds have teamed up with FYDP to help make this year's Farsley Community Festival bigger and better than ever, there'll be loads of stuff for people of all ages to enjoy. Delightful, ridiculous and a little bit extraordinary
with artist sheds and tipis to explore, live music, food from local businesses and fantastic entertainment from some pesky mountain gorillas (don't bring any bananas!), underpant escapology and some intriguing vegetable nannies who will have you changing nappies on courgettes and bottle feeding baby aubergines.
And that's just half of it! There is also live music, old-fashioned fete games, free workshops, banana splits, a pamper zone, 5-a-side football, arts and crafts, the Old Smoothie bar, wacky walkabouts and the return of Farsley's famous beach resort - this time with a full-sized boat!

Farsley Myplace FREE
A weeklong exhibition of photographs taken by local people of all ages from the Farsley community. Getting together to share their memories and experiences of Farsley over many years, this is a chance for them to share the stories that matter to them.

Festival Bag Decorating FREE
2000 cotton festival shopping bags have been distributed to be customised and turned into walking works of art. West Leeds libraries are holding some workshops where you can decorate a bag to take home with you.

Art Matters - 'Postal Room'
An exhibition in a transformed letting agency about 'place' and 'post' by members of 'People Matters' from a project run by artist Alexa Holloway. A selection of fine wines and cheeses from around the world will be available for tasting, accompanied by live music.

Citizens' Orchestra FREE
A performance of music, images and narrative by a new music group for the over 60's. The citizens' orchestra has been working with a team of musicians and artists to bring a selection of classic tunes to life using their own stories.

Wet Sounds
Sound travels four times faster underwater and can be felt in the body as well as the ears.
The festival has teamed up with the touring Wet Sounds festival to bring this unique underwater event to the beautiful Bramley Baths using special underwater speakers. Bring your cozzie and hold your breath underwater to experience soundscapes from artists across the country including Joe Gilmore from west Leeds.

Dust
West Yorkshire Playhouse in association with I Love West Leeds Festival are presenting Dust by Kenneth F Yates, the story of the Armley Asbestos Factory, and June Hancock, who fought for justice for victims of asbestos.
This theatre production brings its premiere out to Armley to be performed in an empty factory unit close to the site of the original JW Roberts factory. Featuring a community cast from across Leeds, the production tells the incredible story of June Hancock and her battle for justice using the actual words of those involved taken from interviews and trial transcripts.
This play is on in Armley for a single night before going on to the West Yorkshire Playhouse on 15-18 July.

The Bill James Big Band with the Citizens Orchestra FREE

Play Up, Play Up
Play Up, Play Up is a dark and clever musical comedy by two new Yorkshire writers Boff Whalley and Dom Grace. Leeds Prison, 1961. Following the execution of a Hungarian inmate, Governor Taylor seeks to reform the prisoners ("my boys!") through the transforming qualities of the arts; on his orders, the inmates will be directed in a production of Emily Bronte's classic tale Wuthering Heights. When the makeshift Heathcliffe and Cathy join forces he is prompted to question the story's themes of freedom and friendship. Directed by Daniel Bye and set to the stirring blues music of Leeds-based band Suffering Succotash.
